We (and most realtors here) are truly surprised. No one here expected this. All the good bargains are going away all over Lee and Collier except for Lehigh Acres in Lee and Goldengate Estates in Collier. In 2005 the panic year when you couldn't find a home - Lee and Collier sold a staggering 14,000 homes - up from their normal 6,000 in 2002. From January 1, 2008 through May 1 ,2009 the two counties have sold 19,000 homes. One year ago Waterways where we live had 122 homes for sale, up considerably from its normal 2 or 3. There are 10 now. |
Chris's clients came from all over America starting about a year ago to buy homes in Collier and Lee Counties that were selling for about one half their 2004 / 2005 prices. What they bought the most of, were houses in the $100,000 to $300,000 range. And what a deal they got. These were homes that were purchased for $200,000 to $600,000 a few years ago - many new homes never yet lived in. They were available by the thousands and thousands. But now these BARGAIN houses are almost gone. Soon they may be completely, one hundred percent, all "g o n e"
